Veterinary Technician

Posted: 07/27/2026

Highview Veterinary Hospital is a new family-owned small animal veterinary practice in Boerne looking for a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our founding team. As one of our first hires, you'll work hands-on with every part of patient care — from nursing and treatments to lab work and surgery support — and help shape the culture of our hospital from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Admit, treat, and discharge patients — including exams, vital signs, vaccines, and client education.
  • Perform in-house lab work (bloodwork, fecals, urinalysis, cytology) and prepare send-out samples.
  • Assist with anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and radiology, and monitor patients in recovery.
  • Administer medications and treatments, and maintain accurate, detailed medical records.
  • Care for hospitalized patients — feeding, walking, and monitoring for changes in condition.
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, wards, and kennels clean, organized, and sanitary.
  • Support inventory and controlled-substance logs, and pitch in wherever the team needs help.
  • Rotating Saturday half-days required

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Prior veterinary experience preferred but not required
  • Comfort with restraint, venipuncture, and general nursing care for dogs and cats.
  • A calm, compassionate approach with both patients and their people.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift or restrain patients up to 50 lbs (assistance provided for larger patients).

WHY JOIN US

You'll be a founding member of our team with real input on how our hospital runs — not just another employee number. We offer competitive pay with PTO, health benefits, sick leave, paid holidays, retirement plan, uniform allowance, employee pet discounts, and more. Join our brand-new facility and grow with us!

Licensed Veterinary Technician compensation starting at $20/hr+ and including paid licensure fees, professional liability insurance, and continuing education (CE) allowance.
