Position Summary
The Program Coordinator is responsible for leading programming within a designated gender-specific student track (boys or girls) and collaborates with the program coordinator of the complementary track and the Director of Stand By Me to strengthen program visibility, community engagement, and mentor recruitment. Program Coordinators oversee all aspects of enrichment and volunteer programs within their track and reinforce mentor impact through intentional programming.The Program Coordinator for the Stand By Me (SBM) leads the design, implementation, and daily execution of enrichment, mentoring and discipleship programming in collaboration with case management staff. This role ensures that all programming is aligned to SBM’s four core outcomes: high school graduation, adult readiness, faith formation, and Godly character.
The Program Coordinator translates vision into practice by creating structured, relational, and Christ-centered environments where students are consistently challenged and supported to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Enrichment Program Design & Implementation
- Design and implement enrichment programming that intentionally develops students in the four core outcome areas: graduation, adult readiness, faith formation, and godly character.
- Design and implement enrichment programming that intentionally enhances mentoring relationships, community engagement and volunteer participation in SBM.
- Ensure all activities, mentoring experiences, and curriculum connect to real-life application, leadership development, and spiritual growth.
- Create consistent opportunities for boys to practice responsibility, leadership, and decision-making in real-world contexts.
- Integrate faith conversations, biblical teaching, and discipleship into regular programming in ways that are relational, relevant, and developmentally appropriate
- Ensure consistency and quality of programming across schools, churches, and program sites
Community Outreach & Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, churches, and community partners that support the program.
- Represent SBM in meetings, events, and outreach opportunities to increase program visibility, trust, and collaboration.
- Identify and develop partnerships that enhance programming (guest speakers, service opportunities, career exposure, etc.).
- Build robust volunteer programs by identifying and recruiting volunteers from community efforts.
Mentor Engagement & Support
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to support mentor recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Partner with Case Managers to monitor mentor engagement and collaborate to ensure enrichment content programming is aligned to core outcomes.
- Support the coordination of mentor and parent gatherings, trainings, and appreciation efforts to strengthen community and long-term retention.
Data, Outcomes & Reporting
- Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent documentation in HCDBM’s case management
- Utilize data collected from surveys and other instruments to monitor progress toward SBM milestones and outcomes across assigned programs outside of mentor programming.
- Use data to identify trends, strengthen program quality, and improve student engagement
- Submit regular updates and insights to the Program Manager.
Communication & Alignment
- Ensure clear, consistent communication between SBM staff, mentors, families, and community partners.
- Develop and distribute regular communication updates (e.g., newsletters, email updates, or digital media) to share program highlights, student impact stories, and engagement opportunities.
- Support family communication in collaboration with Case Managers.
- Communicate program impact and updates to partners to reinforce engagement and shared mission.

- Programming is consistent, high-quality, and clearly aligned to SBM’s outcome framework
- Increase in mentor recruitment.
- Increase targeted student enrollment.
- Increase student participation and attendance in enrichment programming.
- Growing volunteer base and creation of active healthy volunteer program with volunteers present in all appropriate SBM enrichment activities.
- Strong, trust-based relationships exist with families and community partners.
- Communication is proactive, clear, and strengthens overall program engagement and visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, Youth Development, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience working with youth in mentoring, education, or human services
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong organizational, relational, and communication skills
- Experience with case management or mentoring systems preferred
- Alignment with HCDBM’s Christian mission, values, and statement of faith
