Communications Director
 
Position Purpose: This person will be responsible for the ministry communications plan, developing brand strategies, setting and achieving communication goals and overseeing the Communications Specialist. This person will be highly collaborative with each department of HCDBM to ensure a communication plan is executed and while meeting ministry objectives.
 
Key Result Areas:
 

  1. Work closely with HCDBM leadership to create a ministry brand identity, as well as a marketing, and communications plan/calendar. Establish a timeline to move towards consistent branding throughout the ministry and work with Communications Specialist to achieve this plan.
     
  2. Provide guidance and leadership to the Communications Specialist ensuring communications are clear, concise and in adherence with branding and ministry guidelines as well as timely.
        3. Create, write, edit and produce press releases, radio/TV/print publications, collateral, videos, newsletters,                 and other printed materials including annual reports, materials for use in HCDBM programs.

       4.  Create and maintain marketing and communications calendar for the year.

       5.  Supervise communication projects to guarantee all content is publication ready and meet deadlines. 

       6.  Execute effective communications pieces that achieve desired results utilizing, social media posts, e-                        newsletters, ministry letters, ministry newsletters, radio/TV/print and website and fundraising campaigns.
 
       7.  Collaborate with Donor Development dept to produce effective communications designed to achieve                        fundraising goals. 

       8.  Collect content and create an archive of content pictures and stories from all areas of operation of the                      ministry including ministry partners where applicable. 

       9.  Provides creative services to maintain brand consistency.

Outreach
  1. Build relationships and connect the ministry with the community. Attend community events to ensure awareness of the ministry and its current efforts.
  2. Partner with Director of Events & Hospitality to assist with special events and initiatives.

 
Skills Required:
  • 2-3 years marketing/communications experience
  • Must have excellent copywriter skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and managerial skills with attention to detail
  • Capacity to manage team members and multiple projects simultaneously and successfully
  • Excellent and prompt Written and Verbal Communications
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and Canva
  • Experience with website and newsletter communications
  • Nonprofit and supervisory experience a plus
