Program Support Specialist
Mission: To rescue, rehabilitate, and release native wildlife and to provide sanctuary, individualized care, and a voice for other animals in need.
History: Established in 1977, Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) receives over 10,000 wild animals per year for rehabilitation and release as well as providing permanent sanctuary for more than 600 resident non- releasable indigenous wildlife, non-native wildlife (large mammals, primates, reptiles, and birds) and farmed animals. The Wildlife Rescue Sanctuary is located on 212 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country in Kendalia, and the Sherman Animal Care Complex is located in San Antonio. The Kendalia Sanctuary is divided into two sections: Above and Below the Gate.
Description: Program Support Specialist assists the animal caretaking and administrative staff of WRR in transportation, daily tasks, and projects that are required to maintain the highest quality of life for animals in rehabilitation and sanctuary. This role is essential for the daily functioning of WRR and will require a great deal of dedication, responsibility, and personal motivation to complete tasks with minimal supervision. This position requires the ability to stand and sit for extended periods, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50lbs, and to work in all weather conditions. Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Program Support Specialist reports to the Program Support Coordinator, and is accountable to the Executive Director and Founder/President.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Transportation of produce, supplies, donations, food, and other items to and between the Kendalia and San Antonio locations
· Pickup and related logistics of food, donations, supplies, etc. from off property locations, and transportation of items to WRR locations
· Pickups, loading/unloading, purchases, transportation of items, etc. as assigned
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Diet Preparation for animals at the Kendalia rehabilitation hospital.
· Facility cleanliness and sanitation including washing dishes, cages, and laundry.
· Assist with the feeding, cleaning, and general care of non-vector species as needed.
· Assist with the cleaning of enclosures both inside and outside the rehabilitation hospital.
· Assist with general grounds and enclosure maintenance as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
· Education: High School Diploma/GED, Trade School, or comparable skill set obtained through experience
· Experience: 1 year of driving, facilities or general maintenance experience preferred. Must be able to drive a cargo van, as well as a truck/trailer. Preferred to know how to operate a skid-steer loader. Must be able to comfortably drive in all weather conditions.
· Transportation: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
· Skills: Able to operate cleaning equipment, work in a fast-paced environment, and work efficiently as a team member and independently
· Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance
Compensation: This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position paid $16.00 per hour plus benefits.
