School Crossing Guard Supervisor

Job Summary
 
Under general supervision, is responsible for directing the activities of School Crossing Guards. Selects, trains, and evaluates guards, issues uniforms, and maintains an adequate workforce. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff. Work is part time.
 
Essential Job Functions:

  • Travels to school crossing guard locations to supervise guards working split shifts throughout the City.
  • Fills in for Crossing Guards when needed.
  • Issues, collects, and maintains uniforms and supplies used by the guards.
  • Schedules alternate guards to replace absent personnel.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of School Crossing Guards.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic record keeping and modern office equipment, to include computer, typewriter, adding machine and telephone.
  • Ability to train new guards and schedule guard duty.
  • Ability to maintain a calm attitude and accurate work habits during stressful interactions with employees as well as the public.
  • Ability to move items up to 5lbs.
  • Ability to tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions.
 
Acceptable Experience and Training
  • High school diploma or GED (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accredited agency)
  •  Two years of experience as a School Crossing Guard and/or previous experience as a Police Officer or Training in emergency management.
  • Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position. Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B misdemeanor. Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, as Open Arrest for any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions. 
 
Salary:  $16.00 hourly – 10 hours a week during school days.
