School Crossing Guard

Job Summary 
Under general supervision, school crossing guard is responsible for performing routine pedestrian safety work in the vicinity of the school.  Guides school children at intersections before and after school. Work is part time and may require working split shifts.  Term of employment is during the fall and spring school year only. Exercises no supervision.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of city traffic regulations, safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish friendly relationships and secure the cooperation of school children.
  • Ability to remain alert at all times while performing routine duties.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, to include standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to tolerate outside working conditions, including adverse weather conditions, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to move items up to 15 pounds. 
Sufficient education to read and write or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Salary:  $14.00 hourly – 10 hours a week during school days
