Wildfire Prepared Home Workshop

As wildfire risk rises in Kendall County, so does the number of residents receiving non-renewal notices from their homeowners insurance companies. This is more than an insurance issue—it is a community resilience issue, and we all have a role to play in reducing the risks that Mother Nature continues to hand us.

Part of the answer lies in where and how we build our homes, the materials and construction practices we use, and how we design and maintain the landscapes surrounding them. By making wildfire resilience part of the conversation from the beginning, we can build safer homes, strengthen insurability, and better protect our communities.

On September 30, the Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas is offering you an opportunity to be part of the solution rather than the devastation.

As development continues throughout Kendall County’s wildland-urban interface, wildfire risk is increasingly affecting not only public safety but also how homes are designed, built, landscaped, maintained, and insured. Addressing that risk requires collaboration among the professionals who shape our homes and communities.

Our Wildfire Prepared Home Workshop will bring together builders, developers, architects, planners, real estate professionals, insurers, and land-management and landscaping professionals to explore practical solutions for creating safer, more resilient, and more insurable homes and neighborhoods.

Presenters from the International Code Council (ICC), Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), Wildfire Prevention Co., Travis Slaydon Agency, and Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas will address wildfire-resilient construction and landscaping, the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ and Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood™ programs, inspections and mitigation, and the relationship between wildfire risk reduction and homeowners insurance.

Just as importantly, we want this to be a conversation. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss the challenges their industries are encountering, share their expertise, and identify practical ways we can work together to strengthen wildfire resilience throughout Kendall County.

There is no cost to attend, and lunch will be provided; however, space is limited. Please RSVP today, but no later than September 23, by emailing us at: info@hcfcoftx.com.

We hope you will join us and bring your expertise to this important discussion. Building a more fire-resilient Kendall County will take all of us working together.
