SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting for Swing Strong Inc
DESCRIPTION:*Please be aware that the time changed from 11:30am to 10am for this ribbon cutting!\n\n\n\nJoin us for a ribbon cutting celebrating Swing Strong! This ribbon cutting will be part of their Swing Strong Till It's Gone Golf Tournament!\n\n\n\nSwing Strong Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to raise money and awareness of Parkinson's disease through the Michael J Fox Foundation\, by hosting various charitable events in the local community. The Board of Directors include Joe Munsch\, Barry E Halbert\, Sean S Jahr\, and Lisa Crew.\n\n \n\nSean Jahr is our inspiration and founder.\n\n\n\nSean Jahr recently shot a hole in one at Tapatio Springs\, but there's more to the story than first meets the eye.\n\n \n\nJahr has been battling Parkinson's Disease for several decades now. Jahr ran track for South Kitsap High School\, Port Orchard\, Wash.\, and then played col lege football at University of Montana. He was then diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's Disease at age 38 (almost 20 years ago).\n\n \n\nAfter a successful career working for a multi-billion dollar Silicon Valley software company\, he moved to Austin and eventually retired.\n\n \n\nAbout 15 years after the diagnosis\, he purchased a boat and single handed the boat from New Jersey to Rockport\, back to Florida\, and then to the Bahamas over the course of two years. All the while\, enjoying mountain biking and snow skiing. After traveling abroad for several years\, Sean came to settle in San Antonio to care for his mother battling colon cancer.\n\n \n\nAs his PD progressed\, he underwent Deep Brain Stim ulation (DBS) surgery in June 2020. Two months later\, he joined Tapatio Springs Resort and began playing golf most everyday with the men's group. His greatest challenge on the course\, other than his golf swing\, is managing his medication. In a recent visit with his neurologist\, the report is his symptoms have improved with DBS adjustments and a reduction in medication.\n\n \n\nAlthough he stumbles and fumbles\, Jahr keeps things in perspective by maintaining close relations with friends and family all the while keeping his sense of humor. He knows his disease is not going away. He encourages anyone struggling with any disease to stay active and compassionate about things you love to do.\n\n \n\nHis latest saying is "my backup is broken."\n\n \n\nIf you're interested in contacting the company\, feel free to reach out to Barry Halbert at 210-259-5622 or barryehalbert@yahoo.com. You can also check out their website here! \n\n\n\nYou can also view their LIVE AUCTION items here! They will also have concert tickets for sale\, at the door\, for $50 (all money will be a donation to Swing Strong).\n\n\n\nThis ribbon cutting will be on the event lawn behind the Tapatio Clubhouse\, between hole 9 and 18 on the golf course.
