The\n\nproperty will become the new offices for both businesses.\n\n\n\nThe community is invited to celebrate the opening on Tuesday\, November 10\, 2026\, from 4 to 7\n\np.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 4 p.m.\, followed by a grand-opening celebration\n\nand an opportunity to visit the historic property.\n\n\n\nTara Bov \, owner and publisher of Boerne Lifestyle\, and Donen Kemnitz of Favorite Design Co.\n\nselected the property because it represents a meaningful blend of Boerne's history and the\n\nfresh\, forward-looking spirit of their businesses.\n\n\n\n"The Theis House reflects so much of what makes Boerne special its history\, character and\n\nstrong sense of community\," said Bov . "It feels like a natural home for businesses that\n\ncelebrate our community while continuing to create something new."\n\n\n\nBuilt in 1858 by German immigrant Phillip Jacob Theis\, the Theis House is one of Boerne's\n\noldest surviving pioneer homes. Theis was an early Kendall County blacksmith and wheelwright\n\nwho operated his shop on the property. He was also among those who signed the 1859 petition\n\nrequesting the creation of Kendall County.\n\n\n\nThe home is especially significant because of its rare dogtrot design and palisade\, or\n\n"chink-and-daub\," construction. Willow branches were woven around cedar support posts\,\n\npacked with clay and stone\, and then covered with stucco. Its hand-hewn beams\, wooden pegs\n\nand distinctive construction provide a lasting glimpse into the lives of Boerne's early German\n\nsettlers.\n\n\n\nPhillip and his wife\, Margaretha\, raised seven children in the home. Their son August later\n\ncontinued the family's blacksmithing business and raised his own family on the property. The\n\nhome was eventually restored by the Bergmann family and designated a Recorded Texas\n\nHistoric Landmark in 1984.\n\n\n\nFor Boerne Lifestyle and Favorite Design Co.\, the move is about more than establishing new\n\noffices. It is an opportunity to work from a place that embodies the distinctive character\,\n\ncreativity and community connections at the heart of both businesses.\n\n\n\n"We were drawn to the contrast between the historic nature of the Theis House and the new\n\nideas and creative work taking place within its walls\," said Kemnitz. "We are honored to become\n\npart of the continuing story of this remarkable property."\n\n\n\nThe new downtown offices will provide both businesses with a distinctive and welcoming setting\n\nin the heart of the community they serve.\n\n\n\nEVENT DETAILS\n\nTheis House Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening\n\nTuesday\, November 10\, 2026\n\n4 7 p.m.\n\nRibbon cutting at 4 p.m.\n\n248 South Main Street\n\nBoerne\, Texas\n\n\n\nABOUT BOERNE LIFESTYLE\n\nBoerne Lifestyle is a locally owned community publication dedicated to shining a light on all that\n\nis good\, beautiful and inspirational in the greater Boerne area.
