Job Description
Position Purpose: The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, executing and directing all of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries fundraising efforts including the major gifts program, annual operating fund, planned giving, special events, and grants to forward the mission of HCDBM. The role is also responsible for managing team members who support these efforts in a way that encourages their success, growth and development. The Director works closely with the Executive Director in all development and fund raising endeavors. 
 
The candidate should be able to operate and communicate at a high level, have a development mindset and a mature walk with the Lord along with a deep understanding and buy in of the mission of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries.
 
Key Result Areas:
  1. In collaboration with the Executive Director, create, manage, implement and evaluate the fundraising strategic plan to exceed goals and forward the mission of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries
    1. Work with the Executive Director to identify funds needed, preferred funding targets and specific approaches
    2. Create and implement a development plan that details how the organization will cultivate and solicit donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in kind donations, events and marketing opportunities
       
  2. Directly develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective Major Donors through community involvement and outreach, phone calls, meetings and tours in order to exceed funding goals and forward the mission of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries
    1. Work with the Executive Director in managing a donor portfolio of 30 – 60 major donors
    2. Identify and research current and potential donors
    3. Proactively reach out to current and potential donors with phone calls, meetings and tours to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of over 100 to 150 major donors
    4. Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with donors and prospects
    5. Participate in activities and events within the community as a representative of the ministry to enhance the organization’s community profile
       
  3. Manage and develop team members (staff and volunteers) who will directly develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective mid-level and general donors in order to exceed goals and forward the mission of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries
    1. Train and mentor development staff and communicate fundraising goals and progress throughout HCDBM
    2. Manage staff to ensure proactive outreach to current and potential mid-level donors with phone calls, meetings and tours to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of over 150 donors
    3. Manage staff to ensure proactive outreach to current and potential general donors with phone calls, emails, and events as appropriate to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of over 1,000 general donors
    4. Oversee the training and management of the Executive Advancement Council
       
       
  4. In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop, manage and execute the strategic plan for grant funding from its application to its approval and utilization to its reporting
    1. Provide leadership and direction to the Grant Manager and Grant Writer to effectively solicit, manage and execute existing and new grant requests and programs to exceed current and future grant funding goal(s)
    2. Manage staff to ensure proactive solicitation and management of grants to exceed current and future grant funding goal(s)
    3. Manage and support the grant requirement(s), implementation and reporting within the ministry
    4. Ensure the relevant staff are informed about the purpose and requirements of each grant including but not limited to upcoming deadlines and deliverables
       
  5. Manage and develop team members and volunteers to plan, manage and implement fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year including the annual Vision Dinner
    1. Oversee creation and organization of special events in an effort to forward the mission of HCDBM
    2. Manage and develop volunteers to lead and support the department’s efforts while encouraging their spiritual growth
    3. Through volunteers and direct outreach solicit and secure underwriter(s) for events including but not limited to the annual Vision Dinner to exceed current and future underwriter funding goal(s)
