JOB DESCRIPTION
The Education Coordinator will participate as a member of the CNC & Farm team by assisting the Director of Children’s Education in carrying out a wide range of routine activities and special programming related to educational programs. The Education Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Children’s Education. 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED
This position requires direct experience in the field of education or outdoor recreation programming. The Education Coordinator must demonstrate good organizational and excellent communication skills in working with adults and children.

ROUTINE DUTIES
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Outdoor Classroom and Growing Up Wild program
  • Act as a liaison to the community for the education department and be knowledgeable of all education programs and how the department relates to the organization
  • Assist with children’s education component of annual CNC & Farm programming including but not limited to the annual plant sale, annual Boerne parades, Science in Nature, and Family Festivals
  • This position will be required to work some weekends to assist with programs and organizational functions with flexible time off during the week
  • Assist in Adult and Community Education programs
  • Assist in Nature School if needed
  • Serve as Summer Camp Assistant Director
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM (OC) & GROWING UP WILD DUTIES (GUW)
  • Coordinate all aspects of OC and GUW programming including but not limited to teacher communication (verbal and written), and school scheduling and confirmations
  • Be the liaison between OC volunteer guides and visiting school
  • Assist with bi-annual OC, Farm Classroom and GUW guide trainings
  • Create and maintain outdoor classroom schedule, assign volunteers to activities
  • Ensure that school field trips are ready to go as scheduled
  • Be familiar with all OC and GUW curriculum
  • Maintain all activity kits, order supplies and maintain OC storage and organization.
  • Monitor the OC program while in progress- assisting OC guides or school groups if necessary
  • Develop resource materials for OC lessons such as information binders and lesson videos
  • Follow up with visiting teachers – assuring evaluations are out and then returned
  • Communicate with and maintain strong relationships with OC volunteer guides
  • Maintain OC season reports and documenting volunteer hours
  • Work with Marketing Manager to get necessary fliers made and publicized.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and maintain volunteers to teach in the OC
 
SUMMER CAMP DUTIES
  • Assist with hiring camp staff for Nature Camp, Art Camp, PreSchool Camp, and Farm Camp
  • Assist with counselor training
  • Act as daily manager of Nature Camp
  • Directly supervise camp staff and camp leadership/organizational format
  • Be completely knowledgeable of all safety and licensing camp protocol
  • Be CPR/First Aid certified, child safety and molestation training certified
  • Create and maintain camp counselor schedules with activities and camper groups
  • Monitor camp for safety, license standards, scheduled organization
  • Regular daily/weekly communication and documentation requirements
  • Camp staff evaluations and communication
  • High standards as representative of the CNC with camp program promotion in the community
  • Parent communication and camper communication – know the camp culture
  • High standards, motivation and energy that transcends to staff
  • Flexible – goal oriented with safety ALWAYS a priority
  • Help to ensure that the camp curriculum is delivered and aligned with the CNC mission
  • Work with Marketing Manager all materials that needs to be created, promoted, and posted on the web necessary for camp
